Q. Where is YKP located?
A. In the suburbs of Pretoria (one hour from Johannesburg).
Q. What happens if my son gets sick?
A. YKP has its own medic on site 24/7. Additionally, South Africa is known for its high standards of medical and dental care. The local community is blessed with excellent, caring, dedicated doctors of the highest caliber. For consultation and treatment, we have available to us doctors who are members of the community and our ready to help.
Q. Transportation?
A. All of our transportation is done with air conditioned Coach Buses, reputable companies and professional drivers. Our buses and drivers are properly vetted and fully insured.
Q. whats the Weather like?
A. July & August is the dry season/winter. Mornings tend to be cooler (65F), afternoon are about 75). We advise to bring a warm sweatshirt. Please click Here for our Clothing packing list.
Q. Laundry?
A. We have an outside company that does our laundry.
Q. Contacting our son during yeshiva?
A. Two ways: We have an American phone number you can call, or send him an email through our website. We encourage all boys to phone home before Shabbos.
Q. How would I be able to reach the YKP staff?
A. All staff will have cell phones, so you’ll be able to reach them as needed. If you schedule calls in advance, we can give you our full attention.
Q. What is the voltage? do we need an adapter?
A. South Africa uses 220/230 volts. Plug M. You will need a voltage converter and plug adapter in order to use U.S. appliances. We recommend getting a universal adapter and converter kit before you come.
Q. Is South Africa safe?
A. South Africa B”H has a beautiful, well established thriving Jewish continuity, with dozens of Kosher outlets, Synagogues, Jewish schools, etc., That being said, safety and security is still our top priority. Iy”h we will have our own on site Security 24/7.
Q. What type of Bochurim is yeshivas kayitz looking for?
A. Yirei Shomim, who follow direction, and have a good disposition and willing to put in effort into learning.
Q. My son has a hard time learning, will he be able to succeed?
A. Absolutely! Not only will he succeed, with Hashem's help he will thrive. We try really hard to inspire and motivate all our Talmidim.
Q. If my son has a food or activity restriction, can YKPSA accommodate him?
A. We generally can accommodate most food and activity restriction. It's best to call to discuss the matter with the Director.

Q. Is there group flights to South africa.
A.Yes, Once registration is completed we will issue provide you with your group flight ticket

Q. Does my son need travelers insurance? if Yes, where do I get it ?
A.Travelers insurance is a must! Your son can not attend yeshiva without it. We recommend Allianz and Travel Guard. Prices vary from state to state. ($30 - $50)
